WEEK ONE:

The next four weeks you will be studying about salvation. The word salvation implies you
were saved from something. What do you think you were saved from?

_______________________________________________________________________________

The thing that saves us is called “the Gospel”. Before you go any further write out what you
think the Gospel is?
_________________________________________________________________________________
_________________________________________________________________________________

The Gospel is clearly stated in I Corinthians 15:1-8. There are two elements to the Gospel.
Let’s discover them together.

1. In verse 3 it says Jesus did what? __________________________________________________

What was the proof that Jesus died? Verse 4a __________________________________________
___________________________________________________________________________________

2. In verse 4b is the second part of the Gospel. What is it? _______________________________
____________________________________________________________________________________

What was the proof that Jesus raised from the dead? (Verses 5-8)__________________________

Stating it simply, the Gospel is Jesus died for our sins (which was evidenced by his burial) and
raised from the dead on the third day (which was evidenced by many witnesses).

To be saved you must truly trust (believe) Jesus died for your sins and he is the only way for
your sins to be forgiven. We must rely only on him for salvation. Read John 14:6.

Think of faith as a chair. You may say you believe it will hold your weight, but you do not exercise
that faith until you actually sit in it. True faith is completely resting in the finished work of Christ.

God give you when you were born again?

If I am a child of God, will I still sin? Yes, I am afraid you will. This is not unique to you. See
who else still sinned after they were saved. Read I John 1:8, 10. How did the Apostle Paul feel
about still sinning in Romans 7:15-25?
_________________________________________________________________________________

a Christian, Jesus became sin for us (II Corinthians 5:21). This is the reason Christ had to what?
___________________ Romans 5:6-10

When we became a Christian Jesus forgave us our sin.

What do you think happens when a Christian sins? Will God cast him away?
______________________________________________________________________________________

Think of it like this. When a child is born to his parents a relationship is established by blood.
What happens when the child does something wrong (sins)? Does that child stop becoming
the child of his parents? No, of course not. In the same way, our relationship with God has been
established by the blood of Jesus. We do not stop becoming a child of God when we sin.

Read Ephesians 4:30 and Hebrews 3:10 Just as a child’s rebellion grieves his parent, our
rebellion (sin) does what to God? ______________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________________________________

Read I John 1:9 It says that God will do what two things if we confess our sins?
